The most-raced car on Earth is the safest build on Earth. The 2026 ND starts at $30,430 for the Sport 6MT with 181 hp and a 7,500 rpm redline - and behind it sits an ecosystem no other car matches. The used story is why it tops the list: Hagerty's January 2026 analysis puts a good-condition NB (1999-2005) in the mid-$9,000s and an NA at $16,900-18,000 in excellent condition. Every part, every fitment, every mistake has been documented for 35 years.

The only car here with a factory-warrantied 810-horsepower path. The 2026 range spans $32,995 (EcoBoost) to $46,800 (GT), and Ford Racing Parts sells a Whipple supercharger kit for the 5.0 rated at 810 hp / 615 lb-ft for $10,500 with a 3-year/36,000-mile warranty when dealer-installed - and since March 2026 it's a pre-delivery option on new cars. No other manufacturer puts its warranty behind that number.

Depth follows volume: Ford calls it the world's best-selling sports car on S&P Global data, sold 45,333 in the US in 2025, and runs the IMSA Mustang Challenge spec series with 500-hp Dark Horse R cars. EcoBoost owners get a warrantied calibration too - 350 hp from a Ford Racing flash. Aftermarket wheel and suspension catalogs for the S550/S650 are among the deepest in existence.

The cheapest rear-drive coupe with its own professional race series. The twins - built together at Subaru's Gunma plant after the 2019 alliance, per Toyota GAZOO Racing - start around $32,000 for the GR86 and $35,860 for the 2026 BRZ, both with 228 hp. Four hundred horsepower from the factory, six hundred at the wheels on stock internals. The 2027 Z starts at $44,480 with a 400-hp twin-turbo V6, and Z1 Motorsports' 600R package claims over 600 wheel horsepower on the stock engine internals - the highest published stock-block ceiling on this list. One caveat: Nissan withdrew the Z NISMO GT4 from SRO America after 2024, so the factory racing support is thinner than Ford's or Toyota's.

The used Z-cars are where the value is: CarGurus averages a 350Z at about $12,400 and a 370Z at $18,300 - naturally aspirated V6, rear-drive, and two decades of drift-scene parts.

The cheapest rear-drive inline-six you can buy - with homework. CarGurus' May 2026 index averages 2004-2008 3-series at $6,961-8,462 - E46 and E90 chassis with RWD, near-perfect weight balance, and Germany's deepest aftermarket. The E46 M3 has already become a collectible (Hagerty puts a good-condition 2003 around $21,100), which makes the ordinary 325i/330i the smart money.

The biggest modding platform in America isn't on any enthusiast list. SEMA's numbers don't lie: over $15 billion spent accessorizing nearly 13 million pickups in 2025 - 30% of the entire aftermarket, with suspension alone over $3 billion. Ford's F-Series sold 828,832 in 2025, its 49th straight year as the best-selling truck, and Ford Racing sells a warrantied 700-hp supercharger for the F-150 - also a pre-delivery option. Toyota's Tacoma sales jumped 42% to 274,638.

Toyota GR Supra: the B58 aftermarket is mature (Burger Motorsports claims up to 80 whp from a $599 JB4 on a stock car), but Toyota's 1,300-unit Final Edition closed the generation with production ending in spring 2026 - a used buy now, not a new platform. Chevrolet Camaro: retired after the 2024 model year with the last car built in January 2024; still a strong used V8 platform, but a closed one.
